WOODBRIDGE WIRELESS DIRECTION FINDINGIntroduction:Some call it a "T" hunt, some call it a "Fox" hunt, in Woodbridge Wireless, we call it a "Rabbit" hunt. What we are talking about is a hidden transmitter hunt - Direction Finding - DFing. It's a fun exercise to have amateurs practice finding the location of a transmitted signal of unknown origin. Why should we want to practice such a strange sport? There are numerous reasons, including tracking down the source of malicious or unintentional interference, a downed aircraft, a stuck microphone, etc. The reason that the WWI periodically sponsors such an event is that the County's Police and Fire Services have WWI listed as a resource to help in such circumstances, and we need to be prepared, plus it just a lot of fun. There are a number of publications and Web sites that can provide you the details. Check out http://members.aol.com/homingin/. (revised 8/92) << BACK
